The Icelandic novelist is a guest of the ELTE Department of Scandinavian Languages and Literatures.

Magnason, who often moves along the border between literature and documentary prose, is one of the most influential figures in contemporary Icelandic literature, his works have been translated into many languages. As a climate activist, presidential candidate, documentary filmmaker and writer sensitive to environmental and social change, he has built up a significant following and readership over the last two decades. Everyone interested is invited to attend the discussion, after which audience members will be able to ask their questions.

Information about the author and his other works is available on the author's official website, and the Hungarian versions of his works are available on the website of Gondolat and Koinónia publishers and in bookstores. His most recent publication in Hungary is On Time and Water (Időről és vízről) (2021, trans. Bence Patat), which has also been the subject of a short TED video. The book was recently nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2021.
