What stood out to you about ELTE?

The school’s reputation in Social Sciences and its noticeable work in the field.

What makes studying at ELTE so great?

The university has a lot to offer and it is in continuous development. They support participation in conferences, publications and different exchange programs which are vital during a student’s study journey. As well as being part of CHARM-EU which allows the university and its faculties to be recognized in Europe and worldwide. Moreover, there are student jobs that the university offers.

What are / were your challenges in your study program?

The lack of facilities and resources in the English language were a challenge, as the main activity for PhD students is research and we rely on huge database for books and journals to be able to construct papers of high quality.

How did you overcome these challenges?

Using other universities’ facilities as well as public libraries in Budapest, however, we are in continuous conversation with the faculty in that regard.

How would you describe ELTE in three words?

Prestigious, Supporting, Developing

How do you think your degree will help you in your life and career?

The knowledge and experience obtained is essential in all life domains. Sociology lies in everything and everywhere and gives a broader understanding in perceiving things from a different angle; which I believe is necessary in professional and personal life for decision making, leading projects and management in general.

Do you have any recommendations for future students at ELTE?

Be proactive, it can take a lot of energy but ELTE is a huge institution where people need to be proactive and enthusiastic to apply for grants, conferences, exchange programs, even solving administrative issues. Also, don’t be shy or afraid to propose your ideas, the university staff welcome new ideas.
