If you are a scholarship holder within the framework of SCYP or Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship programme, you are eligible for a supplementary private health insurance, providing you health care services in English. (Please do not forget that you are also entitled to have a social security card.) The costs of the insurance are covered by the scholarship programmes.

NOTE!

The health insurance card is valid only together with your passport; therefore, it is particularly important that you carry both the Health Insurance Card and your passport at all time

You can purchase a fee-for-service health insurance in person at the Quaestura Office of Student Services.

You do not need to make an appointment in advance, you can visit Quaestura Office any time in the office hours.

After the written agreement by and between you and the insurance company (i.e., after completing and signing the insured’s statement), you will receive a health insurance card which is designed to be proof of the insurance coverage at the health care service provider.

Period of insurance:
The insurance coverage pertaining to a particular insured shall commence at 0:00 a.m. on the day following the day when the insured’s statement and the Health Insurance Card are duly signed by the insured, but not earlier than at the beginning of the insurance period.
The insurance period is stated on the Insured’s Statement as well as on the Health Insurance Card.

Limit:
HUF 2 000 000. The insurance company’s benefit payment shall be limited to two million HUF (subject to the agreement between the Policyholder and the Insurance Company, for a maximum of 12 months in each academic year) in respect of the costs of medical and health care services reasonably received by

the insured:

• of which maximum HUF 100,000 may be paid to cover the costs of medications,

• and maximum HUF 100,000 may be paid to cover the costs of durable medical equipment.

Deductibles: the insurance company shall – subject to the above limit – pay 50% of the costs of medicinal products and durable medical equipment purchased or received in medical necessity, so these costs shall be subject to a 50% deductible (co-payment). Other deductibles shall not be applied.

How to apply for medical and health care services:
You are kindly advised to seek medical attention as soon as you notice the symptoms. Do not wait until your condition deteriorates! If you believe that you need to consult a medical professional, do not hesitate to do so.
The designated service provider needs some time to arrange that the appropriate physician can meet you at a suitable time.
If the nature of your complaints and symptoms allows, in acute cases you may be offered an appointment with a doctor only beyond 48 hours.
In all cases, follow the instruction of the designated medical service provider/medical management company.

Please, make sure you always have your STUDIUM Health Insurance Card with you, as you may never know when you need it.

In an emergency, please call the emergency services numbers, 112 or 104 (Hungary).

At other times (in an emergency outside the Medical Center’s reception times, at weekends, on bank holidays or at night) out-of-hours medical services/emergency care is provided by Inter-Ambulance Zrt in an out-of-hours Outpatient Clinic located in Szent Imre Hospital at 1115 Budapest, Tétényi út 12-16. Telephone number: +36 1 203-3615. This is the number you must call in a medical urgency, and this is where you can go to receive medical treatment.
