Sprouting from Spring: Turning Rest into Growth
Hi hi, me again! I’m Sarah Sabek, a Kindergarten Education student in my last semester from Egypt, and I am currently living my blessed (and busiest!) life in Hungary.

It’s May, we’re back from spring break, and I have to say… I feel like I am recharged, refreshed, and quietly blooming.
This month, I decided to share with you the places I visited and what I did during my spring break. Was I successful in building a slow routine? I felt this way, I can show you what we call results too, and not just give you things to do without showing you the results behind them.
Now, shall we get started?

Let’s be honest, that break came exactly when we needed it. I used it to rest, reflect, and roam a bit. I visited some beautiful places: Szentendre with its cozy streets and artistic charm, Debrecen, the second-largest city in Hungary, and Miskolc with its cool caves and peaceful vibes, which felt full of surprises. And the Lillafüred Lake! It was beautiful: the nature, the breeze, the sun, and that calm water topped it all in my love for nature.

Besides the travel, one of the highlights of my break was attending the Cultural Connection Day (CCD) at ELTE.

It was such a vibrant experience; meeting people, learning through performances and stories, and just celebrating the beauty of our international community.
My colleague and friend Cheyma shared more about this in her blog—be sure to check it out!

But I didn’t completely disconnect from my studies either.
During spring break, I wasn’t forcing myself into full-on study mode, but I did sneak in some small efforts: reviewing a few notes, organizing my files, giving my brain just enough stimulation to stay awake but not overwhelmed, continuing to enhance both my mental and physical health with healthy habits and finishing off my final draft for my thesis. I liked to think of it like planting tiny seeds.

Now that we’re back, it’s time to take care of those seeds.

We’re entering the final stretch of the semester, and I feel ready; not because I’m perfectly prepared (because who really is?), but because I gave myself that quiet start. A little rest, a little effort, and now I’m building on that momentum. My current focus is balance. I’m carving out time to study a little each day without drowning in it, and making sure to keep moments of calm, joy, and movement in my routine. This month is the care month, where you water your work, day by day, and hopefully see growth by next month.

If you’re feeling the pressure rise a bit, I get it. But remember, things don’t grow all at once. Growth comes slowly, through consistent little things: showing up for yourself is one, starting with a page per day for exam studying, saying “no” to one distraction, or just trusting yourself a little more.

As I said, May is for care and nurturing. It’s the month where we let what we planted start to show. Let yourself bloom at your own pace and remember: it’s okay if you’re not at full speed yet. What matters is that you’re moving.

That was it for today, and see you soon for June (aka exam season). But for now, let’s keep growing!
