What does energy poverty really mean, and why does it affect women differently?

Join the interactive workshop to explore how energy poverty shapes the everyday lives of women in Hungary. Together, you’ll use participatory tools to think through this increasingly pressing issue and you’ll discuss how it connects to essential needs like housing, transportation, and what community and systemic responses might look like.

This event is part of the Women for Solidarity in Energy (WISE) project, a European initiative under the CERV programme, involving partners from Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and Hungary, coordinated by the French organisation Act4. The WISE project aims to raise awareness about energy justice and empower low-income, single, and retired women to take part in shaping fairer energy policies. It focuses on knowledge-sharing about energy rights, efficient energy use, and inclusive policy participation. It is also part of the Local Initiatives for Green Housing Transitions project (LIGHT) funded by the European Climate Foundation.

The event is organized by the WISE Project Team at ELTE TK Institute for Political Science, and the ELTE Culture Club.
