Dormitory application of the non-first year students for the 2019/2020 academic year
There are several changes in the international students’ dormitory applications compared to the previous periods. Make sure to read this letter before you contact us! There is a Frequently Asked Questions below that should cover most of your questions about the changes.
A) DORMITORY APPLICATION OF THE 2019/2020 ACADEMIC YEAR (from 02.09.2019 until 03.07.2020)
How to apply: Those, who already have access to the Neptun (everyone, who enrolled at least for one semester at ELTE), have to apply there. Log in into your Neptun (at hallgato.neptun.elte.hu), and under the Administration – Dormitory application menu choose the “Dormitory application for the 2019/2020 academic year” form.
Answer the three questions (preferred order of the dormitories, disability, notes) – they can be changed until you click on the “Register” button. After you clicked on “Register” (which is necessary to have a valid application!), the form becomes final and you will not be able to change it anymore.
The form is active from 04.06.2019, 18:00 until 14.06.2019, 10:00 (AM).
In case you experience any technical problems, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org immediately!
Result: We are going to inform you about the results first in the Neptun, expectedly on 17th of June, 2019. A detailed letter of acceptance or letter of denial will be sent in an e-mail shortly after.
Accommodation documents: Accommodation documents about the next academic year can be made only if and after you are accepted. The letter of acceptance is enough in most cases to extend your residence permit, but if you need a certain or more formal document (like the accommodation reporting form of the Immigration Office, or a proof of accommodation we made for the visa applicants), contact us at email@example.com.
We hope that by using a more practical surface, and providing dormitory results two months earlier than last year, the dormitory application will be a more comfortable and generally more satisfying proceeding than before.
B) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What happened with the online Dormitory registration form?
A: The dormitory registration form at https://www.elte.hu/en/student-residence-halls will remain in use, but its purpose from now on is to support only those, who do not have access to the Neptun (new ELTE applicants and students before enrollment, non-ELTE students) and need a dormitory place, or those, who are looking for housing assistance from the ELTE Housing Office.
Q: What happens to my application on the online Dormitory registration form?
A: Every application that was made there until now, by a student who could have applied in the Neptun, will be deleted, and will not be considered later.
Q: A few dormitories are not in the list. Can I apply to them?
A: These dormitories do not have any international places, it is not possible to choose them in this application.
Q: What does the priority category mean?
A: Instead of a complicated point system, the University accepted to assign the dormitory places according to five priority categories. Within each category, the one with the earlier date of application gets the place. After there are no more applicants in a priority category, we accept students from the next one. The categories in order, from highest to lowest:
1. Students to whom the university is obligated to provide a dormitory place (most of the ministerial scholarships, and certain bilateral or inter-governmental agreements)
2. New Stipendium Hungaricum and Young Christians scholarship holders (they are not accepted yet, we keep their places until 10th of August)
3. Stipendium Hungaricum and Young Christians scholarship holders, who are already at the ELTE
4. Other scholarship holders (e.g. Erasmus, CEEPUS), other bilateral or inter-governmental agreements, self-paying students, interns, etc.
5. Students of other universities
Q: I have 0 points. Did I something wrong?
A: Since the acceptance is based on priority categories and the applications’ order, we do not ask for any other documents to attach. The system will show 0 points equally to everyone – this is not an error, it had to be so because the system required assigning points to the questions.
Q: Does my current dormitory place or summer dormitory application/place influence my dormitory application for the 2019/2020 academic year?
A: No, these are separate application periods.
Q: What happens, if I do not get a dormitory place?
A: The letter of denial will inform you about the waiting list and the housing assistance. There will be a second wave of acceptance for the remaining places after the first year students’ dormitory application about 10th of August, then the acceptance will continue according to the waiting list.
Please, note that we are not able to provide a proof of accommodation until you are accepted to one of the dormitories!
Q: Where can I learn more about the dormitories and the application?
A: The ELTE website (https://www.elte.hu/en/student-residence-halls) provides more information, but if you have general questions or technical problems, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
