Elementary School Students in the Information Society
The research project "The Digital World Around Us - Elementary School Students in the Information Society" was implemented at Eötvös Loránd University.

Identification of a Social Problem

With the revaluation of the role of information and the exponential growth of information quantity, significant changes have occurred in the learning process. The perception of the school and teacher roles is changing, new types of student activities have emerged, and we need to deal with new digital threats. Therefore, it is crucial that all participants in the educational process prepare themselves for the altered (informational) social conditions and the management of associated dangers.

Outcome of the Development

The output consists of digital products (task sets, videos, blended learning sessions, methodological handbooks) aimed at developing competencies in 6-10-year-old students. These resources facilitate their active, critical, creative, and mentally balanced participation in the information society.

Introduction of the Developed Tools

The project focuses on two main aspects: orienting oneself in the digital world and defending against its dangers. The developed products provide students with examples from their immediate environment, demonstrating how to solve various problems using digital tools, such as searching for, selecting, organizing, and publishing information in different formats. Through situational games, enactment of short stories, and discussions, students become acquainted with digital risks. The primary response activity emphasizes the importance of recognizing the dangers and raising awareness by alerting the environment.
