Implementing the Renewed European Consumer Sales and Digital Content Service Regulations in Hungary

Identification of a Social Problem
Within European community regulations, two new directives have resulted in a significant paradigm shift in consumer protection private law. Firstly, the regulation of defective performance in consumer sales (warranty, guarantees) has been renewed, affecting millions of consumers. Secondly, a new regulation has been introduced regarding digital content service contracts provided to consumers and the sale of movable goods containing digital elements.
Research findings
Analysis and documentation of foreign examples (German, Austrian) of legal implementation. Analysis and documentation of technology-focused "legal" concepts. The research resulted in the creation of a guide titled "Consumer Protection Compliance Check-List for SMEs." This guide provides a transparent and practical compliance framework, serving as a reference for SMEs on the aspects they need to consider in order to comply with the regulations.
