Call for Contributions for the project of the German Rectors' Conference
On 11-12 December 2023 the MODUS project of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) will host an international conference on recognition titled "Recognition Culture in Higher Education. International Perspectives on Lifelong Learning and Student Mobility" in Bonn, Germany. For this purpose, MODUS invites contributions from all over the world.

Academic recognition and recognition of prior learning (RPL) are essential elements to enable individual and flexible learning paths and to support intercultural learning experiences. The conference will highlight the relevance of recognition for lifelong learning, student mobility and the strategic development of HEIs. It aims to discuss current approaches, practices and challenges, and to advance recognition by offering a space for international exchange and reciprocal learning on the subject.

All those involved in recognition are invited to submit proposals for contributions along three inter-connected subject areas: Recognition Practices in HEIs, Student Mobility, and Lifelong Learning. Subject of a contribution might be projects, outcomes, strategies, approaches, and experiences related to the topic of an academic recognition culture. The deadline for submission is 24 July 2023.

Time and Venue of the conference: 11–12 December 2023, Bonn, GSI Conference Centre

The conference seeks to bring together university board members, lecturers, researchers, admissions officers, staff from international offices and continuing education centres from higher education institutions as well as representatives from other institutions in higher education who are engaged in questions of lifelong learning, student mobility and recognition. Although this conference emerges within the European Higher Education Area and thus focuses on European perspectives, we are highly interested in gaining and exchanging views from around the world. For more information on the conference and the call for contributions please  visit https://www.hrk-modus.de/recognition-culture-in-he/.

MODUS is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and aims to improve recognition practices at higher education institutions in order to enhance student mobility and permeability across educational boundaries.
