We warmly invite all international students to our Orientation Days for the Autumn Semester 2016/2017 at ELTE. We highly recommend you attending the event where you can meet fellow newly-arrived international students.

During the Orientation Days you will hear about:

  • ELTE and ELTE faculties in general
  • Administrative to-do’s to get settled in Budapest (registration in Budapest, insurance) and to start your studies at ELTE (registration at the University, student ID)
  • Services provided by the University (e.g., library, language learning)
  • Ways to spend free time at ELTE (ESN ELTE, sports, university choir and orchestra, dance group)

 Boat Tour on Danube with ESN ELTE

Let us show you our wonderful city in a not so conventional way. From the Danube, cruising on a boat, while getting warmed up for the Thursday night! We'll take you to a one hour round-cruise, to which you can bring your own drinks, but we will prepare some surprise for you as well!

The price of the Boat Tour is going to be 3000 HUF, or 2500 HUF with an ESNcard.  ESNcard will also provide you with several other discounts during the whole semester. You will be able to purchase the ESNcard during the  Campus Tours and the Information Market. For more information, do not hesitate to ask your mentor!

ESN ELTE mentors take you to the Quaestura Office in small groups where you can receive your Neptun login password, temporary student certificate.
NOTE: You can get your student certificate and Neptun login password only if you have a Neptun code, you are enrolled at the Faculty and your data are recorded in the Neptun system.

16:30         Budapest Scavenger Hunt

Meeting point: 1088 Budapest Múzeum körút 6-8. in front of Gólyavár

Do you have what it takes to explore Budapest in a challenging way? During the course of this highly interactive, multi-location game, you will get a chance to familiarize yourself with downtown Budapest, bond with other international students and the ESN ELTE mentors!

10:00-12:00  Intercultural Introduction

Venue: Lágymányos Campus, 1117 Budapest, Pázmány Péter sétány 1/A, Room 0.100 A (North Building)

The intercultural training helps you prepare for your international experience here at ELTE in Hungary. You can learn about Hungarian cultural characteristics, how you can deal with culture shock, and how you can use all this information during your studies at ELTE.

The program requires registration in advance. Online registration opens at 10 a.m. on 22th August 2016 here.

13:30-16:00 Hungarian Culture Fair

Venue: Lágymányos Campus,1117 Budapest, Pázmány Péter sétány 1/A, Room 0.100 A (North Building)

On the Hungarian Culture Fair you will learn some Hungarian cultural customs and traditions. You can subscribe and participate on a crash course in Hungarian, where you can acquire the most important expressions of Hungarian language. The mentors of ESN ELTE will teach you the tricks of handicrafts, such as “nemezelés” (planking), you can get a cool henna tattoo with traditional Hungarian motif or you can even take a picture in traditional Hungarian clothing. At the end of the program, you can try out some dance moves with ELTE Folk Dance Group.

16:30-18:00  A/Visit to Parliament

Meeting point: Budapest, Kossuth Square, in front of the Metro Station (Metro line 2)

Do you want to visit one of Europe's oldest legislative buildings? Are you curious about a notable landmark of Hungary and a popular tourist destination of Budapest? Join us and get to know more about this building and the Hungarian history!

Please do not late for the program! The visiting rules of the House of Parliament  are strict.

Meeting point: 1014 Budapest, Szentháromság tér

Buda Castle is the historical castle and palace complex of the Hungarian kings in Budapest. In the past, it has been called Royal Palace and Royal Castle. Let’s discover this historical building and the museums too!
