Research for competence-oriented education
The ELTE Savaria Centre of Regional Pedagogical Services and Research is involved in a winning project of the Interreg Austria-Hungary programme, under the codename CODES AT-HU074. The supervisor of the project titled “Competence-Oriented Education for Elementary Schooling in the Cross-Border Region Austria-Hungary” funded with over EUR 380,000 is Balázs Bakó, head of the institutional unit ELTE Savaria Centre of Regional Pedagogical Services and Research.

The goal of the project is to develop a network of educational institutions in the cross-border region that can effectively support at the primary level of education the development of competencies of students aged 6 to 10.

Within the framework of the project, three competence centres are set up in the region of Western Transdanubia,

which serve as information points for schools, teachers, and parents. The competence centres will offer pedagogical tools, task banks, and services to be developed in four fields during the project: reading literacy, mathematics, natural sciences and technology, as well as intercultural and social competence. Schools and teachers involved in the project will receive professional assistance with the use of the tools in the form of teachers’ further training and individual counselling.

The project runs from 1 August 2018 to 31 August 2021, and ELTE has won more than EUR 380,000 for the implementation. The lead partner of the project is the Vienna School Board. The project partners are the University College of Teacher Education Vienna, the Province of Burgenland, and the University College of Teacher Education Lower Austria from Austria, as well as the ELTE Savaria Centre of Regional Pedagogical Services and Research from Hungary.
