National Laboratories Programme

In the era of digital transformation, networks are an increasingly valuable source of knowledge transfer and exchange, so the National Research, Development and Innovation Office, with the policy support of the Ministry for Culture and Innovation (earlier, the Ministry for Innovation and Technology), is creating knowledge centres known as National Laboratories in promising areas of the national economy, which will become prominent scientific hubs for specific fields.

So far, 26 National Laboratories have been set up across the country in four major focus areas (Healthy Living; Safety and Security; Digital Transformation of Economy and Society; and Green Transition).

ELTE supports the vision of the National Laboratories Programme: our researchers are represented in three focus areas (Healthy Living; Digital Transformation of Economy and Society; and Green Transition). ELTE currently leads two laboratories: the National Laboratory for Digital Heritage and the National Laboratory for Social Innovation.
