Change in training, institution and/or language of training

During the term of the scholarship status, scholarship holders (Stipendium Hungaricum, Scholarship for Christian Young People and Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship) may request, to change the scholarship training and/or institution and/or language of the training, which may take place a maximum of once per training level.

The scholarship holder may choose any of the mentioned options (in any combination) at the same time.

Information about the request

Who can apply?

  • Changing institutions, training and languages is only possible at the end of the semester, so that the scholarship holder can start the next semester in the new institution, training or language.
  • Institutions, training and languages can only be changed within one calendar year of the start of the scholarship period, at the end of the first or second semester.
  • The scholarship holder also has the opportunity to apply for change in the semester during which his / her student status is suspended.
  • You can only change in full training and only within the same training level.
  • Students studying in preparatory training course may participate in an institutional and / or training change (in any direction) only if the student has successfully completed the  course. In such a case, the sending institution must certify that the preparatory course has been completed.

For ELTE students:

In case you want to change to another course at ELTE or to another institution, please contact your Faculty Coordinator.

For students transferring to ELTE

In case you want to continue your studies at Eötvös Loránd University, please follow the steps below:

  • check out our programs on the find your degree program page to make sure we have the one you would like to apply for
  • contact one of our Coordinators based on the chosen training to see if the transfer is possible.
  • contact your current University for their consent to the change 

Please do these as soon as possible so you have time to apply and collect all the necessary documents!

How to Apply

In case of Stipendium Hungarcium, the student submits the application to the Tempus Public Foundation together with all its attachments to the address of Study in Hungary: stipendiumhungaricum@tpf.hu.

In case of Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship, the student submits the application to the Tempus Public Foundation together with all its attachments to the address of Study in Hungary: diasporascholarship@tpf.hu 

Scholarship holders of Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People submit their application to the Universityscyp@elte.hu. Then the requests will be forwarded to the HungaryHeps Agency, who makes the final decision.

The application period is OPEN!
The deadline is 15 May 2024.

The obligatory elements of the application are the following:

  • request (in which, if relevant, the expected need for extension must be addressed),
  • resolution of the sending institution (permission to leave),
  • an official, stamped document from the receiving institution
  • in the case of a student who has completed a preparatory course, a certificate of the completed professional preparatory course.

You can find a form for the exchange request below in the documents, however it is not mandatory for scholarship holders to use it.

These must be obtained and submitted by the student.

The Tempus Public Foundation contacts the Sending Partners and asks for their consent to the change. Beforehand, the student also required to seek for the partner's approval, and must submit the partner's statement of support when applying. In case your partner does not respond to your request, please attach a screenshot of the email you sent to the partner as well.
