Pázmány-day at ELTE in 2019
The senate of ELTE held a ceremonial assembly at Aula Magna commemorating the foundation of the university in 1635 by Péter Pázmány. Lázsló Borhy, academic, the rector of the university opened the ceremony, according to the traditions he greeted the audience of approximately 150 participants also in Latin. 

The main lecture on Pázmány-day is always held by a professor reaching extraordinary scientific results based on his/her own scientific field. This year’ lecturer was Zsigmond Ritoók, professor emeritus of Faculty of Humanites at ELTE, who gave a presentation titled Changing of style in archaic greek lyre.

The new honorary doctors of ELTE in 2019:

  • Claus von Carnap-Bornheimet, professor of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität according to the proposal of Faculty of Humanities
  • Marc Nicholas Potenza, professor of Yale University according to the proposal of Faculty of Education and Psychology
    Dr. Potenza gave an interview to our collegues about modern addictions and addictive behavior presenting his current researches. 
  • Rudolf Wesler, professor of Universität Wien, according to the proposal of Faculty of Law
    The interview with Dr. Wesler about his work concerning the legal culture in different legal systems is also available on our website.
  • Charles Withers, professor of University of Edinburgh according to the proposal of Faculty of Science
    Doctor Withers was also interviewed by Róbert Győri associate professor and Chair of the Department of Social and Economic Geography at Eötvös Loránd University.
