Call for Submissions: CHARM-EU Open Science Recognition Award 2025

Target group: ELTE academic teachers and researchers (individual or group applications)

This award aims to recognize and celebrate the contributions of individuals and teams engaged in teaching and research within the CHARM-EU Alliance who have demonstrated a strong commitment to Open Science (OS). Applicants are invited to submit initiatives, projects, or research activities aimed at promoting OS. The award provides the winner with an opportunity to visit one of the Alliance’s partner universities and consult with local experts on strategies and practices for advancing OS.

Call for PhD Students: Montpellier Cross-border Doctorials 2025

Target group: ELTE doctoral students from any discipline

This call invites applications to participate in an international workshop where doctoral students from various countries and disciplines collaborate on developing an interdisciplinary “Horizon 2030” proposal focused on societal challenges.

CHARM-EU online course catalogue: gain international learning experience from home

Target group: ELTE bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students

During the next academic semester, CHARM-EU Universities will provide access to a certain set of their on-line courses for the students at the partner universities to facilitate virtual exchange activities. Interested students can get first-hand international experience without physical mobility while gaining credits that could be recognised by their home university.

Call for Posters: University Alliances as catalysts for European Competitiveness

Target group: university citizens and external partners whose interests align with the focus topics of the event

The CHARM-EU Annual Conference 2025 will spotlighting how European University Alliances can contribute to competitiveness through promoting innovation and sustainability. Poster contributions may be research-based, practice-driven, or policy-oriented, and may address topics such as the role of alliances, curricula that promote digital and green skills, research and lifelong learning initiatives, open science, student and researcher mobility, institutional agility, employability, or diversity and inclusion.

Deadline for submissions: 12 September 2025, with notifications of acceptance issued by 19 September. Final versions of accepted posters are due on 31 October.

CHARM-ED Call for Proposals for Joint Educational Activities

Target group: ELTE academic teachers, researchers, and support staff

This call aims to encourage and support educational collaborations involving at least two partner universities of CHARM-EU, aligning with the Alliance’s educational principles. Successful proposals will receive financial support (EUR 1,000 to EUR 5,000).

Call for CHARM-EU Networking Pilot Events

Target group: ELTE teaching, research, and support staff, institutional units and departments

The CHARM-EU Alliance’s network- and community-building working group invites proposals for organizing three pilot events between January and June 2026. These events should enable teaching, research, or professional staff in specific disciplines to connect and initiate cooperation with colleagues at partner universities.

Scholarship for Master’s and PhD-level study in Bavaria

Target group: ELTE students in their final year; ELTE alumni with Bachelor's degree; ELTE doctoral students

The scholarships of the Free State of Bavaria are meant to finance postgraduate studies (master's programs), PhDs or one-year research sojourns at Bavarian higher education institutions for the 2026/27 academic year. The one-year scholarship can be generally extended twice for up to 3 years. The scholarship is paid out monthly (992,- €) and amounts to 11.904,- € per year. Potential host institutions include the University of Würzburg, a partner university of ELTE within the CHARM-EU Alliance.

Staff Mobility Opportunities at CHARM-EU Partner Institutions

Target group: ELTE teaching, research, and support staff

ELTE staff may continuously apply for Erasmus+ educational and training mobility opportunities across CHARM-EU partner universities. The aim of the call is to encourage teaching and training mobilities between partners, outside the joint programmes of the Alliance. Currently, applications may be submitted for mobility periods taking place until 30 September 2026, to any CHARM-EU partner university.

Applications may be submitted on an ongoing basis until 30 June 2026. Decisions will be made within two months of submission.

Student Mobility Opportunities with Intercultural Preparation

Target group: ELTE bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students from any field of study

Students may apply—regardless of their field of study—for mobility to CHARM-EU partner universities (including the University of Barcelona, Trinity College Dublin, University of Bergen Bergen, Utrecht University, University of Montpellier, Åbo Akademi University, University of Würzburg, and Hochschule Ruhr West) with information on application opportunities available here.

Mobility supports not only academic but also intercultural development. The CHARM-EU Alliance has developed an Intercultural Communication Short Course, consisting of modular video content on intercultural communication topics, accessible flexibly and at one’s own pace. These resources are designed for students, staff, and academics alike, as well as anyone interested in exploring and enhancing their intercultural competence.

 

CHARM-EU Service Portfolio: inspiration and support for adapting CHARM-EU solutions

Target group: ELTE academic teachers, researchers, and support staff interested in CHARM-EU

As part of its expansion project, the Alliance is compiling a Service Portfolio that includes case studies, guidance, and expert support for adapting CHARM-EU’s successful practices to local institutional needs. The portfolio is available on the CHARM-EU website under the “Get involved” sections for academics/researchers and support staff.

Under the tabs, you can find various examples of how CHARM-EU member universities applied the innovations of the Alliance ‘at home’, with supporting documents and guides to each case study. A Support Request Form is also included for you to contact CHARM-EU teams that can offer further support in your work.

 

CHARM-EU Roadshow Series at ELTE Faculties

Target group: ELTE teaching staff, researchers, and support staff interested in CHARM-EU

Launched in 2025, this monthly Roadshow series features ELTE colleagues from a particular faculty presenting their CHARM-EU–related projects and good practices. These events also offer workshops and opportunities for discussion about the Alliance’s work.
