What stood out to you about ELTE?

The first thing that stood out to be about ELTE is how it is the largest community of researchers in Hungary. As someone who really enjoys research, this was one of the things that I was looking to have in my graduate education, to be part of an institution that has outstanding research and researchers, as well as it can help its students to improve their academic skills.

What makes studying at ELTE so great?

ELTE has outstanding professionals on their fields, world experts that are able to share their knowledge and light the fire of curiosity in their students, making classes more enjoyable and relevant. Besides this, the ELTE community (staff members and students) have a friendly and positive attitude and are willing to help one another succeed.

What are / were your challenges in your study program?

One of the biggest challenges I faced at the beginning was to adapt to a new educational system, even though I already had experience studying abroad, a new country implies a new system.
Another challenge is the Hungarian language, fortunately Budapest is a large multicultural capital, meaning that there are a lot of people from different backgrounds, and thus almost everywhere there are people that speak English and are willing to help.

How did you overcome these challenges?

Thanks to the friendly staff, as well as the university community I was able to quickly adapt to the new system.
The Hungarian language is still challenging, but thanks to the Hungarian classes I am now able to understand some daily phrases and further engage with their culture.

How would you describe ELTE in three words?

Supportive, Academia, Engaging

How do you think your degree will help you in your life and career?

Coming from a B.S. in psychology background, I am learning a lot about how to become a good teacher thanks to the classes I have taken so far, and the professor and peers who are also constantly helping and supporting each other. This degree is one of the steps that will lead me to my career goals, and thanks to the whole ELTE community, I believe it is a step in the right direction.

Do you have any recommendations for future students at ELTE?

Enjoy it! The semester goes by really fast, make friends, be open to new experiences. Also, be curious, ask questions, and try to learn as much as you can.
