Course description

1. The rules of making collections, types of collections (privet, state, scientific); basic knowledges of museology (collecting book, catalogues).

2. The presentation of the sampling instruments of invertebrates (different types of nets, vacum hoover, etc.), the rules of usage of these instruments; preparation on field

3. The presentation of the sampling instruments of vertebrates (nets, traps/fish, amphibians, reptiles, bird, small and large mammals), the rules of usage of these instruments; preparation on field

4-5. Making anatomical preparations Dry and alcoholic preparations, bones, plastination; different dyeing methods; "virtual" preparations

6. Microscopical preparations (unicellular organisms, sponges, cnidarians, moss animals, other lower invertebrates). Water sapling methods, the collecting materials fixation on field, procedures of making praparations from animals mentioned above.

7. Alcoholic preparations from soil invertebrates. Sampling methods of soil invertebrates (pit fall traps, Berles funnel etc.). Working with the collected materials in the lab, procedures of making praparations from animals mentioned above.

8. Preparations from insects. Sampling and trapping methods of Lepidoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera (light trapping, knocking methods etc.). Working with the collected materials on the field, procedures of making praparations from animals mentioned above.

9. Preparations from insects and chelicerates. Sampling and trapping methods of Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Homoptera, Orthoptera and Aranea, Scorpiones (light trapping, knocking methods, pit fall trap etc.). 10. Preparations from fishes, amphibians and reptiles. Pocedures of making alcoholic and formalinic preparations from animals mentioned above. Bone preparations (digestion methods), collecions from scales and teeth.

11-12. Preparations from birds. Skinning, filling the skin, contourise, making sceleton.

15. Storage of praparation. Protection against parasites (Anthrenus verbascii), conservation of collections.

Field practice: The practical application of the methods learning in the lab.
