"I like the fact that almost everyone in Budapest and in all Hungary knows ELTE and it has good reputation."

Why ELTE?

As the most interesting stories usually begin, this story began with coincedence. 1 year ago I was paticipated in an International Ecological Forum in Saint Petersburg (my home town) and met there very a interesting Italian man, Michele Orzan, who was one of the speakers there, but currently lives and works in Budapest. We had a very interesting conversation, I told him about my interest in continuing studying abroad and he said „Hey, come to Budapest!”. I made a research and found the ELTE.

What was very important for me in the desicion-making process is the possibility of making reasearches and proper analysis, so important for the scientist. Despite the fact that ELTE has a big history (was founded in 1635), the campuses are quite new with good equipment and access to any kind of information, necessary for studying.

What do you like most about being a student at ELTE?

First of all, I like the fact that almost everyone in Budapest and in all Hungary knows ELTE and it has good reputation. All the time when I say to others that I am studying in ELTE, they answer „Oh,good choice!”.
Moreover, the status of a student of ELTE open you big variety of opportunities, which could help your developing both in professional and personal fields.

What are your challenges in your study program?

The educational system in Russia differs a lot from European, so it took me at least one month to get used to the new one. Plus my background was in completely different language (Russian) so I had to translate all my knowledge to English, which was also kind of a challenge. Honestly, first lectures I was sitting with translator and translate almost every word.
And of course I can’t avoid noting Hungarian language as a problem. It is very complicated itself and sometimes there is no any translation at all. It is confusing, but what I really like, if you ask for help, there will be always someone to solve your problem.

How do you think your degree will help you in your life and career?

Actually the fact that I am studying in ELTE in Budapest already helped and and inspired self-development. It is fantastic international experience, I can’t imagine better place to have such.
Moreover, I am getting completely different type of education, getting different points of view on different environmental problems and situations, which is very important for me as a future environmental scientist.

Do you have any recommendations for future students at ELTE?

Apply! Don’t be afraid of any challenges and changing in your life! ELTE and Budapest are definetly worth it!
