Course description

Aim of the course

The aim of this course is to facilitate the learning of organisational development and its practical issues. The students will gain a better understanding of the process and the practical issues of Organisational Development (OD) through an exercise, by performing an organisational diagnosis and consulting practicing OD professionals. It is also aimed to develop capabilities, that are required in during organisational development processes (creative team techniques, communication, interview methods, organisational interviewing, cooperation, conflict management, etc.) which are practiced in situational exersises as individual, in team and/or in pair. In this course, students will have the opportunity to meet with practicing managers and to observe the dilemmas of daily practice.

Topics of the course

  • Processes and methods of organisational development
  • Theoretical dilemmas and practical questions of organisational development
  • Practical exersise: Organisational diagnosis at an operating organisation. The main topics of organisational diagnosis: Organisational goals, Organisational structure, management systems, Organisational values, Organisational communication, conflict management, commitment, motivation.

Learning activities, learning methods

  • In this course a practical exersise is performed on the basis of knowledge, acquired in curse PSZM-VSZ 06-1 The preparation for this practical exersise takes place in form of small-team work, situational exersise and practice role.

  • Written report and presentation of the result of practical exersise

  • The completion of a defined subject, chapter of the written report of organisational diagnoses.
