Hungarian Startup University Program

Join the Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP) at ELTE in Autumn 2025!

Startups, motivating teamwork, fascinating people and events, up-to-date course materials, credits and even scholarship packed in one programme? It is possible: the Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP), Hungary's first higher education-level startup course (in English!), will be available at ELTE in the academic year 2025/2026.

Since its first launch in 2020, the Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP) has grown to be one of the most significant initiatives for the dynamization of the startup ecosystem and the strengthening of the entrepreneurial attitude of university students in Hungary. Over the years, the programme has accumulated a wealth of experience among both the key players in the startup ecosystem as well as the active students.

The course will be available in English in 2025 Autumn.

HSUP is a two-semester e-learning course, where the first semester (2 credits) focuses on innovative thinking and learning about the startup world, while the second semester (4 credits) provides students with practical knowledge on building a company. The materials related to the course are available online and can be completed with interactive exercises. The first semester ends with the students submitting their startup one-pagers.

Those who successfully complete the first semester will have the opportunity to, in the second semester, team up with fellow students from ELTE & beyond, and work towards a more elaborate business idea while also receiving a general scholarship of HUF 65,000 per month.

In addition, the 15 best performing teams in the second semester will receive a special scholarship of HUF 1 million per team member. The 4 most promising teams to become startups – if they establish their business and successfully raise capital from the market after the end of the spring semester – will receive additional non-repayable grant of up to HUF 20 million per startup.

Startup ideas will be developed with the help of mentors and HSUPxELTE (ELTE’s own HSUP support team) will also provide ELTE HSUPpers additional training and other professional events.

HSUP is coordinated by the National Innovation Agency (NIÜ) and supported by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office and the Ministry of Culture and Innovation.
