ELTE has made the Neptun foreign language module, the Xeropan premium language learning app, available to its students for free. This platform offers a modern, AI-based language learning solution for general and specialized language learning.

With Xeropan, students can

• develop their language skills at their own pace,
• improve their speaking skills with the help of AI, prepare for real-life situations with thousands of interactive scenarios covering general and specialized topics,
• prepare for language exams and university assignments,
• obtain credits in an elective course based on their own decisions.

Available languages and levels:

• English: A1-C1 general and specialized language skills,
• German: A1-B2 general language skills,
• French: A1-A2 general language skills,
• Spanish: A1-A2 general language skills,
• Hungarian as a foreign language: A1 general language skills.

Specialized language skills in English are available in the following areas: business, IT, engineering, technical, medical, legal, academic, tourism and hospitality, and veterinary medicine.

The module is freely available to students via the Neptun student web interface and can be used without any restrictions. If earning credits is not the aim, language learning can be started at any time, in any language, at any level, with any topic, or even by selecting only a specific lesson type or lesson. If the student later decides that they would like to obtain credits after all, they will have the opportunity to do so in accordance with the semester schedule, but in this case, their previous achievements will not be able to taken into account when calculating their semester practical grade.

The conditions for obtaining credits for foreign language learning as an elective course are:

• course registration in Neptun for the given semester,
• completion of the placement test in Xeropan at the beginning of the semester,
• fulfilment of the requirements given in the course description available in Neptun throughout the semester.
