Purpose of the Awards
The Diaspora Scholarship Programme Student Excellence Award and the Diaspora Scholarship Programme Student Hungarian Excellence Award are annual national recognitions celebrating the outstanding achievements of students studying in Hungary with a Diaspora Scholarship. These awards highlight exceptional DSP scholarship holders who demonstrate remarkable academic performance, community engagement, and personal achievement. The goal is to provide talented students with an opportunity to gain national visibility and receive formal recognition for their success.
Award Categories
DSP scholarship holders may be recognised in two main categories:
Excellence Award: for students enrolled in foreign‑language programmes.
Hungarian Language Excellence Award: for students studying in Hungarian‑taught programmes.
Both awards acknowledge outstanding academic results and contributions to the university community.
Financial Support
For one month, their total monthly financial support is increased from the regular 43,700 HUF to 140,000 HUF.
Importantly, this increased financial support is granted even if the student is not otherwise eligible for a regular living allowance.
Diaspora Community Impact Award
In addition to the two main categories, DSP students may also receive the Diaspora Community Impact Award, which recognises exceptional dedication to strengthening Hungarian diaspora identity and community life.
Students receiving a DFP Excellence Award are entitled to additional financial support during the semester in which the award is granted: for one month, their total monthly financial support is increased from the regular 43,700 HUF to 140,000 HUF.
Importantly, this increased financial support is granted even if the student is not otherwise eligible for a regular living allowance.
Doctoral students who receive the Diaspora Community Impact Award are granted an additional 140,000 HUF for one month, on top of their regular monthly living and housing allowances (if they are otherwise eligible based on prior application).
