"Studying at ELTE grants me direct exposure to an open academic environment where not only I can excel in my studies but also realize my personal qualities, skills, and potential to the fullest."

WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?

What stands out the most about ELTE is its position as one of the most prestigious Hungarian universities with a centuries-long reputed academic tradition. Many outstanding Hungarians I know about are ELTE alumni, which gives me a sense of “standing on the shoulders of giants” and motivates me to strive in my academic and future career path.

WHAT MAKES STUDYING AT ELTE SO GREAT?

Studying at ELTE grants me direct exposure to an open academic environment where not only I can excel in my studies but also realize my personal qualities, skills, and potential to the fullest. Moreover, the diverse representation of both local and international students in ELTE’s programs promotes cross-cultural communication, mutual understanding, and social integration.

WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?

Being an International Relations student in Hungary means that one should have some decent background knowledge about Hungary and the European Union to fully understand the structure and the focus of my program. This may be a significant challenge to students who come here from other regions of the world, myself included. Another difficulty is the Hungarian language: it is beautiful, musical, and sophisticated but at the same time, it is the hardest language I have ever attempted to learn!

HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?

To overcome those challenges, I have been actively bolstering my Hungarian skills, participating in different multicultural (Hungarian as well as European) activities, and befriending interesting individuals after school time. To me, this is also an opportunity to gain deep insight into the modern Hungarian lifestyle, culture as well as society, and appreciate this beautiful country even more.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE ELTE IN THREE WORDS?

Dynamism, Harmony, and “Hungarikum”

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?

I have always been interested in Central Europe and I hope that my degree will be the first step towards a career in which I can play a role in promoting mutual understanding between Central European states (including Hungary) and my native country.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT ELTE?

Be confident in yourself and do not miss out on getting a taste of the dynamic local life!
