Program
From self-driving cars to robotic assistants, the Internet of Things, and AI-based software solutions, the future is increasingly autonomous. As an emerging technology, autonomous systems present both opportunities and risks. Navigating this landscape requires not only a deep understanding of the technology but also the ability to confidently evaluate autonomous processes and maximize the trade-off between business impact and resource expenditure.
The interdisciplinary master's programme is designed to approach autonomous systems from both a computer science and an electronic engineering perspective. We use a combination of face-to-face workshops, group activities, and hands-on exercises to cover everything from the basics of autonomous systems to such specific skills as:
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Machine learning
- Artificial intelligence
- Robotics
- Automation and control
- Embedded systems
- System communication
- Autonomous software systems
To enhance your learning, the programme includes an opportunity to get real-world experience by working in a business operating in the autonomous vehicle, intelligent robotics, industrial IoT, or autonomous software system fields. During your internship, you will apply your new skills and knowledge towards solving problems and creating new products and services.
The EIT Digital Master School is a flagship education on advanced level provided by leading European universities and IT companies. It offers a two-year education in which you can choose two universities in two different European countries with a double degree at the end. This means that two leading universities’ technical competence and skills are together in this program, join forces to offer a competitive education.
Next to the strong technical background, provides Innovation and Entrepreneurship education in 25% of the program, which means that students gain knowledge about how industry works and how research results can be turned into service or product, even before they graduate. The program also includes a 4-month internship to be done at one of the EIT Digital partner companies, where students can experience world changing innovations from first hand.
As a key factor for success, EIT Digital also provides great networking opportunities with its kick-off, summer school and graduation events to those, who are interested in establishing their own business.
Structure
Career
At the moment, the job market looks very promising. Automotive manufacturing is a major industry in Europe and the university partners are well linked with these companies. In addition, autonomous systems are relevant in service applications and in manufacturing, logistics, shipping, mining, and recycling industries. In addition, autonomous software systems are becoming widespread in application areas, such as media, finance, customer service, and healthcare.
Automotive manufacturing is a major industry in Europe. Graduates will have enormous opportunities in any field of industry.

Previous studies: A completed Bachelor's degree
Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree encompassing a minimum of 180 ECTS credits or equivalent academic qualifications from an internationally recognized university.
You can read more about the entry requirements on this link.
Conditional acceptance
Students in their final year of undergraduate education may also apply and if qualified, receive a conditional acceptance. Applicants following longer technical programmes and who have completed courses equivalent to an amount of 180 ECTS, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Language requirements
Minimum level of language proficiency (oral) (A1-C2): B2
Minimum level of language proficiency (written) (A1-C2): B2
Further comments:
As one of the 2 years is spent at ELTE, but the other one is to be spent at a partner university, the language requirements for that other year depend on those of the partner universities, too.
