WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?
Before deciding to pursue my studies abroad, I did my own research about the best universities in Hungary and all the rankings concluded the same result; ELTE is at the TOP! I didn’t think twice before choosing ELTE, I really like the history of this university and what ELTE achieved over hundreds of years since the 17th century. ELTE provides high quality educational system, a wide network of prestigious companies and well-known research institutes. I just like the feeling of acceptance and respect I get from people when I say: “I am a student at ELTE”.
WHAT MAKES STUDYING AT ELTE SO GREAT?
In my case, I am studying BSc in Mechanical Engineering, at ELTE Savaria Institute of Technology in Szombathely. It is a very quiet city with friendly and welcoming people, and I chose it willingly because I like small cities to relax and study with a peaceful mindset. The high quality of education in ELTE provides the students the best academic knowledge before their professional careers, helps them to develop their skills in a variety of fields and with the active student life in ELTE, it creates the family like environment that will shape the student’s personality for the better.
WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?
The challenges that I faced during my studies are not related to the study program itself rather than coping with my studies in a new country with new environment and especially having homesick feelings. In addition, since I am not studying in Budapest, there are not a lot of English speakers, therefore, it was quite hard at first to communicate considering the language barrier.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?
At first it was a bit hard for me to handle but my new friends, classmates and professors in ELTE, with all the joyful moments that we experienced together, made me feel welcomed to the point where I felt like Hungary is my home country in a really short period of time. Taking the mandatory Hungarian language classes at my first year helped me to be confident in having small daily conversations in order to overcome the language barrier I had with some people in the city.

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?
Having a degree from ELTE university is an advantage considering its affiliation with many wide networks of universities in Europe and around the world. Certainly, the well-known reputation of ELTE is going to help me reach my academic goals, it will provide me with the know-how necessary to begin my professional career and to expend my own network of international contacts that will help my social and personal life.
