My name is Joses Okpoti Mensah from Ghana. I love  to have new experiences, meet new people and learn/discover new things. With meeting new people and from the conversations we have, I am able to learn a lot from them. I love to watch football (especially the Premier League) and Sci-Fi movies. I really enjoy being able to help people.

WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?

What stood out to me is the academic atmosphere and its reputation. ELTE offers high quality education combined with a multicultural environment. With the experience I have had so far, the school puts a strong emphasis on critical thinking to bring the best out of you. I was also impressed by the number of international programs taught in English and the warmth with which the university welcomes students from all over the world.

WHAT MAKES STUDYING AT ELTE SO GREAT?

At ELTE, you do not just meet great minds, you also meet people who are eger and willing to support you and help you grow. You are built in all aspects of life and also, you are assured that you will stand out in any place you find yourself in the future. The professors too are approachable and genuinely interested in helping students succeed.

WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?

In ELTE, you are encouraged to think outside the box and be more innovative. This was one of the challenges I faced when I came. You are encouraged to argue out intellectually your opinions. Also, one of them was managing my time. Sometimes, there can be a lot going on all at once and it can be easy to lose track of time. These things are possible.

HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?

By staying open-minded and asking for help whenever I needed it, i was able to overcome it. I built a small circle of friends, both Hungarian and international, who supported me through studies and life. I also made a conscious effort to manage my time better and communicate with my lecturers whenever I needed clarification. It helped a lot. I also call home as often  as i can to stay in touch with my family.

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?

My degree from ELTE will open many doors for me. So far, it has given me a solid academic and social foundation, taught me how to think independently, critically, and has exposed me to so many new things. Wherever i will find myself in the future, I am confident that my education here will make me very competitive and adaptable.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT ELTE?

Be open to new experiences. Have an open mind. Do your best to connect with people from different backgrounds. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or reach out for help it really helps and saves you a lot of time and effort. Also, explore. Hungary is a beautiful country. Enjoy every moment of it. Enjoy the journey and savor the moments. And finally, take your studies very seriously.
