Hey! I’m Sai from Myanmar. Before starting university in Hungary, I studied in Thailand for three years, where I completed my high school education. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active through sports such as bouldering and table tennis. I also love trying new things, learning new languages, and meeting people from different cultures.

WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?
ELTE consistently ranks as the top university in Hungary, especially for my program, BSc Computer Science. It also offers a wide range of electives and extracurricular activities beyond academics. Combined with its location in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, Budapest, ELTE provides both strong academic opportunities and an excellent living environment.
WHAT MAKES STUDYING AT ELTE SO GREAT?

I believe putting yourself in an environment where your peers are as smart, if not smarter than you, will allow you to improve yourself that much more and help you realize your full potential.
WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?
Personally, the main one would be the academic difficulty of my program. When I first started, I underestimated the workload because I believed my high school A-level background would allow me to relax during the first year. However, I quickly realized that the courses were more demanding than expected, especially in Computer Science.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?
The subjects were harder than I initially expected, but I learned to discipline myself and manage my time better. I also sought help from my friends and professors when needed, which helped me to better understand difficult topics and achieve good results in my exams.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE ELTE IN THREE WORDS?
International, challenging, rewarding.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?
Academically, ELTE is providing me with a strong foundation for my future career in programming. I am learning several programming languages, web development, and different programming paradigms. Beyond academics, I have significantly improved my self-discipline and time management skills, and I continue to develop important soft skills such as public speaking, presentations, teamwork, and communication.
DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT ELTE?
Explore the city and enjoy everything Budapest has to offer. Embrace the challenges you may face and do not hesitate to ask for help when needed. Everyone experiences difficulties at some point, but what matters most is how you respond to them. Most importantly, expect growth here and stay open-minded!
