Course Summary

We offer a two-week summer university program focusing on Hungarian language and culture, consisting of three days a week and three 90-minute lessons per day (two morning contact language lessons and one afternoon contact practice session), for those who have not yet studied Hungarian as a foreign language or culture, or are beginners. We also recommend the course to students who will be continuing their studies at any faculty of ELTE or other higher education institutions in Hungary in the upcoming semester (e.g., Erasmus+).

During the summer university course, students have the opportunity to learn about the Hungarian language and culture in a native-speaking environment, together with their international classmates. The language teachers are highly qualified and experienced professionals who use their expertise, modern research and methods to ensure successful and enjoyable learning.

We treat language and culture as a single unit, so in addition to language lessons, the program also includes project work and workshops, allowing students to gain deeper, more complex, and interactive experiences in a wide range of everyday and high culture topics, including ethnography, literature, film and visual arts, history, social processes, gastronomy, and contemporary Hungarian life.

Through language learning, they can develop a closer relationship with Hungary, Hungarian culture, and their possible Hungarian roots, but the summer university course also provides excellent preparation and familiarization for continuing their studies in Hungary in the future.
