The Student Centered Digital Skills and Competence Development Center (HDKKK) program is one of the flagship initiatives of the university’s educational renewal.

The initiative frames student-centeredness in a broad sense: it does not only focus on renewing classes and teaching methods, but also on the entire ecosystem surrounding students, including the physical learning environment, learning support services, mental health support, as well as administrative and operational processes.

The Student-Centered Digital Skills and Competence Development Center (HDKKK) is a decisive initiative of ELTE's educational renewal, providing an institutional response to the challenges of the digital paradigm shift. The aim of the program is to further develop the university's educational excellence and ensure that the institution strengthens its competitiveness even amidst changing student and labor market expectations.

The program builds on existing, widely accessible faculty and institutional best practices, supporting their alignment and systematic development. The focus is not on individual achievements, but on the quality of the learning process.

ELTE’s priority is to ensure that students possess modern knowledge and broad general education, while also developing those competences that are essential for successful employment and social participation in the 21st century. Emphasis is placed on problem identification, critical thinking, responsible decision-making, as well as the conscious and ethical use of digital and artificial intelligence-based tools. An important endeavor is that skills and competence development take place within a consciously designed system, providing appropriate responses to new challenges faced by educators.

The foundation of HDKKK's operation is ELTE’s traditional values: high-level professionalism, humanity, and solidarity. The center aims to ensure these values are present in education, student services, and the everyday operation of the university's community in harmony with the requirements of the digital era. The program supports the creation of a learning environment that simultaneously fosters scientific excellence, social responsibility, and openness toward one another.

During the program, the educational development portfolio will be renewed, a teacher training system will be established, and teacher mentoring will be supported. Prioritizing ELTE’s international role, international student integration programs are developed and talent management and innovation initiatives are strengthened. Additionally, faculty and central mental health best practices play a vital role; their sharing and dissemination contribute to students’ successful academic progress.

The aim of the program is to define student-centered education along unified standards and contribute to ELTE’s future readiness in the digital era.
