500 Years Entwined History: Central and Ottoman Europe gathers invited scholars at ELTE University, in collaboration with the Wirth Institute, to mark the 500th anniversary of Mohács. Moving beyond dominant conflict-centered narratives, the conference explores the deep and often overlooked histories of collaboration, coexistence, and exchange between Central Europe and the Ottoman world, fostering new perspectives on a shared and interconnected past.

  • Keynote Talks: Two keynote speeches will frame the conference by offering reflective perspectives on the long-term entanglements between Central Europe and the Ottoman world.

  • Panels: Scholarly panels will bring together experts in Habsburg and Ottoman history.

  • Concert Performance: Enjoy a special performance by renowned violinist, Guilluame Tardif.
