Students, early-career researchers, young legal professionals, and members of other relevant professions are all welcome to the WIPO Summer School on Intellectual Property - an internationally recognised educational programme organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
How are innovations created and protected? What value do creative ideas have in today’s global economy? And what role does intellectual property play in all of this? You can find the answers to these questions at the WIPO Summer School on Intellectual Property, which will take place from 31 August to 11 September 2026 on the campus of the University of Rijeka.
This prestigious international program is organized by the WIPO Academy in cooperation with the State Intellectual Property Office of Croatia and the University of Rijeka as the host institution. The Summer School is intended for senior undergraduate and graduate students from all fields of study, as well as young professionals.
During two intensive weeks, participants will have the opportunity to learn from leading national and international experts, meet peers from different countries, and gain knowledge that connects law, technology, entrepreneurship, science, art, and innovation.
Today, having a good idea is no longer enough—it is equally important to know how to protect it, develop it, and turn it into value. For this reason, expertise in intellectual property is becoming increasingly sought after by employers, especially in sectors driven by innovation, research, technology, and creativity. Understanding how ideas, inventions, brands, and creative works are protected and commercialized can support your professional development and open up new career opportunities.
