The Eötvös Loránd University acknowledges the strategic importance of the universities’ Third Mission. Researchers from essentially all ELTE Faculties were, and currently are, involved in numerous relevant projects.

The Rector’s Cabinet Third Mission Strategic Office, in close collaboration with ELTE’s Center for Innovation, contributes actively to the strengthening of the university’s social responsibility by fostering and coordinating activities related to:

• innovation
• emerging technologies
• sustainability
• environmental protection
• digitalisation
• economic competitiveness
• strategic business partnerships

Under the supervision of the Vice-Rector for General Affairs, the Third Mission Strategic Office is responsible for the development, implementation and controlling of institutional strategies in the abovementioned fields, as well as the preparation of related executive level decisions.

The Office initiates and coordinates complex projects as well as inter- and multidisciplinary activities on a national and international level which require cooperation both across the University’s faculties and beyond academia: with the public and business sectors. For the sake of effective strategy formulation and decision making, the Office closely observes national an international policies and trends as well as identifies and valorises the Third Mission activities of the University. In cooperation with ELTE’s Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Recruitment, the Office is involved in the communication and dissemination of the results of ELTE’s Third Mission contribution.
